“Hawkins Cellars developed out of my love and passion for exploring the diverse landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Every wine I make has a story and a sense of place.”
– Thane Hawkins
For over a decade we have been producing small lot, age worthy wines sourced from some of the most recognized vineyards in Oregon and Washington. Our handcrafted wines are built to last, and we don’t try and hide the wines’ earthy nuances with overly oaked treatments or excess fining and filtering. We recognize that every vintage is unique, and that those differences should be celebrated rather than blended and hidden for the sake of uniformity.
After spending 10 years making wine in the Willamette Valley, Thane Hawkins set out to forge a new path on Underwood Mountain in the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, a region of unparalleled beauty similar in climate to Alsace.
Underwood Mountain is an extinct volcano on the west side of the Gorge, with a variety of micro climates, volcanic soils, and ample rainfall. Anchored by the famed Celilo Vineyard, the vineyards in the area range from 800 to 1800 feet in elevation. The steep, mostly south facing hillsides, along with a truly sub-alpine climate, make Underwood the perfect spot to grow aromatic white grapes, as well as cool climate reds such as Pinot Noir.
It is from here that Hawkins Cellars is both growing and sourcing cool climate varietals, as well as continuing to source from a stable of world class vineyard sites from around the region.
Club Cuvée is a different kind of wine club, in which our four and six bottle members get to choose their wines from any of our current releases. Club Cuvée is truly wine your way!
“I absolutely love the wine club and having the ability to choose the wines you wish to receive is fabulous. And Thane’s wines are so unique! — Julie Davidson, member since 2013.
